CUWiN Projects

CUWiN brings together researchers, developers, and community activists from across the globe with a common purpose: to develop low-cost wireless mesh technology that can be deployed anywhere. CUWiN constantly is seeking new partners for development and installation. This page highlights the projects that we are currently engaged in.

CUWiNware CUWiNware: our flagship

CUWiN has been working since 2000 to develop the community wireless networking software that is DIY open source technology. To date, we have made great strides in creating a wireless mesh network that has substantial scalability. We are also making significant headway in making the system more user-friendly, especially with the release of version 0.7.0, which includes a beta version of NodeConfig, a web-based GUI that allows users to configure their nodes from a web browser. For more information about how to use CUWiNware, check out the CUWiN Manual. To find out more about CUWiNware research and development, check out the research and development page.

2006 National Summit for Community Wireless Networks The International Summit for Community Wireless Networks

The International Summit for Community Wireless Networks provides organizations and activists worldwide to come together to discuss the technical and political agenda for community wireless networks. CUWiN hosted the first Summit for Community Wireless Networks in 2004. In 2006, pariticipants from more than ten countries attended the summit in St. Charles, Missouri. We are always looking for new partners and sponsors for next year’s summit.
